As we begin (or continue) virtual or hybrid learning math teachers may be using virtual manipulatives to aid in understanding math concepts. I’ve put together a big list of virtual math manipulatives organized by domain. You can access the list by filling out the form below, I hope it helps!
A couple notes on using these that may be useful:
Student Voice
All tools included in this list do not have the capability to be shared tools, meaning multiple people can not work on the same screen at the same time. If the teacher is using a tool during class, make a plan for including student voice and student thinking as it will be the teacher doing the manipulating.
Student Agency
Make a plan to teach students how to use tools and how to find them independently. Consider the questions: What tools will be most useful? Which tools might students need most often?
Teacher Practice
Play and experiment with each tool before using it with students. This is especially true with the Conceptua Math tools which have video tutorials that are very helpful.
